Galloping is a typical wind-induced phenomenon in iced conductors, which can have serious impacts on the safe and stable operation of power systems. The aerodynamic characteristics an conductor are key factor study galloping, be determined mainly by numerical simulation flow past conductor. Based Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations closed Spalart-Allmaras (S-A) turbulence model, third-order Runge-Kutta method along uniform streamline Galerkin used for temporal spatial discretization, respectively. convection diffusion terms discretization scheme treated semi-implicitly, finite element based S-A model presented to numerically simulate crescent We systematically investigate effects icing thickness, wind speed, attack angle coefficients patterns. experimental results, effectiveness present algorithm verified. Using diagram pressure distribution crescent-shaped conductor, mechanism sharp peak lift coefficient explored. Combined with galloping Den Hartog Nigol, instability zone analyzed.
